Happy Birthday buddy.
I've been thinking about you recently and about what I wanted to write over the past few days, I'm coming back to the same thoughts...
I wish I'd get a message from you again asking me what I've been listening to recently. I still haven't sent you that message I wanted to send you asking for some good recommendations for some good poetry.
I wonder what you thought of the birthday card I sent you when I was 16ish. Was it that long ago? You knew more than anyone else where those brain cells of mine went.
I wish I could raise a beer and say "cheers" to you. But I don't do any of that anymore, I've been "eating celery" and reading my books by Nietzsche and Camus, and him, and him, and her, and behaving myself quite well, and getting good grades.
Ha, things done changed, huh?
I had to stop and re-evaluate shit. You said it best in one of my favorite PoemZ of all time:
The strain on my heart,
The strain on my liver.
You can have the last hit,
I'll settle for the last word.
The last word is the best to have,
it's
so
much more
satisfying
in the long run. You always had the last word.
Cheers to you, I might just crack a cold one or two or th3ree open tonight for those memories.
I didn't forget. It's a week and a day after my own... You're missed by all.
